girls camp!!!!

so, i'm lucky enough to have spent the last (nearly) 2 years serving in young women's. the only downer has been my disproportionate amount of time spent at camp. last year, i was at Corbynn's graduation, and this year i'm nursing Avery so i could only go up one night. and it was a great night! i seriously vow to do whatever it takes to spend the whole week at camp next year. it's not okay for the girls to have all that fun without me! i know some of you are blog readers so i just want you to know that this was the most fun 24 hours (spent camping) i've had since my own girls' camp days! you are all awesome and i feel remarkably blessed to be associated with you! here's a few pics from the day!

why i planted a garden

i finally ate the dinner which was the whole point of planting a garden. (okay that's an overstatement) but seriously, tomato, basil pizza with fresh grilled corn! this was awesome. (and ps: the corn is not mine, but i do have some corn to enjoy in a few days!)

happy father's day!

(so, i stole this idea off someone else's blog. i can't remember who, so i can't give appropriate credit. but, thanks for the idea, i love it.)

happy father's day to Jason, the best man i could have ever chosen to help raise my little rascals. and happy father's day to my dad, the best man for the task of raising this little rascal. i love you both!

Tashy's shower

so, we went to California this weekend for my sister Ashlyn's bridal shower. it was so much fun! (was it because Jason had the girls?) okay, maybe a little. but, i got to hang with the woman folk and watch Ash open some beautiful gifts, most of which should not be featured on this family blog! but here are the highlights:
the apron i made for "Mrs. F."
the apron made by my inspiration in all things sewing: Aunt Shirl.
the bridesmaids:
the Beardsley women:

we had so much fun playing and talking. then some of us girls had a late night shopping! who could ask for anything more! congrats to Ashlyn and Ian, we're looking forward to more fun at the wedding!

we did it!

Anna got these blocks for her b'day last year. ever since that day, she has been determined to build a castle "just like the one one the box....by myself." it's that last part that has given her some trouble. until now:
she was so proud, and so was i.

packin' heat in the heat

our little neighbor Conner got a new toy. Anna came running in the house yelling, "Conner has a gun!" this is is what i came out to see:

apparently Madeline had disarmed him. Jason couldn't have been more proud!

giveaway!!!!........to support my habit.

it's official, i'm addicted to buying fabric and making dresses. i fought it as long as i could, but now i must admit i have a problem. now, it's true i have 3 daughters, so making dresses could be useful, but let's be honest, they only need so many.
so, in order to try and make my habit a win/win, i have opened an Etsy shoppe. and in honor of my grand opening, i'm doing a giveaway! hurray! it really excites me, because i love blog giveaways and have always wanted to do one, but felt like i had nothing to give away. but here it goes i'm giving away this:

a beautiful shirred dress for your little girl, or almost any little girl really. what a great gift it would make! i am showing it on Maddie and Anna, so you can see it would fit a 3T (Madeline) to a 5 (Anna).

just leave a comment below, and on Saturday June 13th, i'll randomly choose a winner!!!! so exciting!

how does your garden grow?

okay, so i picked my first zucchini a little soon. but, i stayed patient this time, and it paid off: i sauteed these suckers and they were delicious. there was enough for us and our guests! so, here's a glimpse at the Earl family garden lately:

these tiny peppers are my favorite, they are so cute!

here's a couple of baby zucchinis making there way to my dinner plate soon!

future cucumber.

did you know it takes 85 days to harvest a beefsteak tomato? i didn't, or i would have gone with Roma. but i am just dreaming of a hamburger with a big, think slice of these on there. yum! it'll be worth the wait.

we kind of ended up with a lot of squash and zucchini because i thought i planted them wrong and went for a second try a few weeks later, what do you know, we've got double growing strong. oh well, more to share!

these pictures will come in handy when my kids are older and say, "i don't remember ever having a garden," (if i don't keep it up, i'll have proof).
